Why I Read Camping Blogger

Posted by admin under: camping .

Especially if you’re a Cub Scout parent and you want to help, but you have trepidation about how to get reservations for the next pack outing, Camping Blogger is a great resource. He has covered the easiest way to reserve campgrounds online and the process you might want to use when doing so.

Selecting a campground from the search screen lets you see what kind of facilities and campsites are available. It also allows you to view the overall layout of the campsites within the campground, which is fine if you are familiar with it, but inadequate for making any decisions, if you aren’t.

A quick click over to Google™ Maps gives me an actual birds-eye view of the campground, making it easy to spot where the campsites are that are nearest to the beach.

How brilliant is that? Sure, you could have thought of it, too, but you might not have done so and Camping Blogger has laid out the process for you.

The only additional note I will make is that some online camping arrangements are inadequate because of their popularity such as the housekeeping camp at Yosemite. You can make reservations online, but if you know what you want and you’re merely waiting for the first date on which you’re allowed to make reservations I’d recommend using the phone system at the same time you’re clicking on your reservation. The online lag can be killer, literally killing your operating system and causing you to reboot losing precious minutes which can be the difference between getting the reservation you want and having to choose a new date. The phone systems are generally hardier and you get put in a queue so you can be the third or fourth in line if you call as soon as the lines open up (sometimes right at midnight depending on who you’re calling). So, use the excellent tips from Camping Blogger, but have your phone in your hand if you’re trying to get on the list before they fill up. When you live in a city of millions all of whom seem to want to camp on the same day you do, it’s important to maximize your potential.
