OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – A memorial flag ceremony is set for June 11 in Omaha to mark the anniversary of a deadly tornado that struck a western Iowa Boy Scout camp.
The Little Sioux Scout Ranch was destroyed last June 11 when the storm hit. Four Boy Scouts died, including three from Omaha. Nearly 50 others were injured.
The Boy Scouts of America, Mid-America Council asks that all Scout groups fly their flags at half-staff on June 11.
Volunteers have worked to rebuild the camp, which was rededicated earlier this month. The new buildings will be able to withstand winds up to 250 mph.
The upcoming ceremony at the Durham Scout Center will be followed a day later by a reunion dinner and ceremony at the camp.
