Minor League Baseball and Scouts
Posted by Mrs. admin under: camps .
Saturday night was Scout Sleepover Night at the Harry Grove Stadium in Maryland. Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts were invited to come set up their tents on the Frederick Keys playing field. The Frederick Keys are a Minor League baseball team. This must be a popular event at Minor League fields as I found other references online and my family has gone to one at our local team’s field (the Lancaster Jethawks). If you haven’t been to a minor league game, you’re in for a treat. You might not know the names of the players, but the experience is very entertaining. On top of getting to watch a great baseball game, the stadium does many fun games to amuse the families.
If you don’t know where your local team is, take a look at the Minor League Baseball page. Many of the teams have websites, but they don’t advertise Scout Sleepover Nights as it is a private event. Contact your team directly or ask your council if they have any information. As their logo says, “Minor League Baseball: It’s Major fun!”.

The Florence Freedom did this for the Dan Beard Council in June. They’re only 15 minutes from the Cincinnati Reds, but the experience is so much more fun. And cheaper!!
For what it’s worth, the Reds have done this as well, but (again) at a much higher cost.
