Mom Sues E. Coli
Posted by admin under: camps .
Not really. She’s suing the providers who supplied ground beef that had E. Coli in it at the Boy Scout camp in Goshen Virginia in July, according to Jonathan Mummolo at the Washington Post. I don’t know the details enough to know if the company was negligent or if they just got unlucky with their supply and testing. I don’t suspect that the mom knows, either, and is probably just angry at what happened to her son. Given that she’s hired a food-poisoning attorney (talk about specialization) I think she’s looking for a payday. That’s too bad. Thankfully, everyone is recovering from the sicknesses and no one died, which can happen with E. Coli. Remember to thoroughly cook your food when camping, no matter how many bears you feel like you could eat.
In recent weeks, the Virginia Department of Health has been tabulating data from more than 500 surveys of camp attendees and reviewing lab tests. Although no official source of the outbreak has been identified, officials have pointed to the meat, some of which might have been insufficiently cooked by Scouts over an open fire, as the likely source of the outbreak.
