Rebuilding After the Tornado
Posted by admin under: camps .
KCCI in Des Moines, Iowa, has a story today describing the rebuilding of the Boy Scout’s Little Sioux Scout Ranch that was hit by a tornado last month. They quote Lloyd Roitstein, the president of the Boy Scouts Mid-America Council, as saying that the facility will include basements in case of future tornadoes.
This brings up the question of other facilities. I wonder if other camps in tornado-prone areas will be retrofitted with shelters, too. I really doubt it since this was a freak accident and I’m always hearing how expensive it is just to maintain the existing camps. At least the Boy Scouts there aren’t losing a camp.
The story also talks about the volunteers who are already working there and the money needed to rebuilt it.
Update: The Boy Scouts alumni and friends website has information on specific funds for the four boys who were killed in the tornado.
