TALLADEGA COUNTY – Boy Scouts from across the Southeast will be heading to the Talladega Superspeedway the weekend of Nov. 7-9 for the 2008 Talladega Encampment.
Tom Swain of the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America said this is expected to be the nation’s largest Scouting event for several years.

“Right now our numbers say we should have 10,000 plus people that weekend,” Swain said. “It should be the largest gathering for the next two years until the national jamboree.”

In addition, the event is expected to be the largest scouting event ever held in Alabama.

Camping for the entire weekend costs $20 per person or $10 for Saturday visitors.
