Tired of the general direction the organization is going, the program (journeys) that makes it very difficult to run anything other than a single-grade troop, and the difficulty to have males involved. My husband is very involved with our children, and is a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster. I will be starting an AHG as soon as I get get it off the ground. It will provide a program that aligns with my families values, and many more girls can be served with a scouting program, since the set-up of the badges allow for a multi-level troop. Scouting will become a family activity rather than the ratio-based/"parents go-away so I can indoctrinate your daughter" approach of GSUSA. We welcome adults and siblings, and will get them involved in the program they enjoy. They will be aware at all times what their daughter and Cub Scout son are doing during their meetings. GSUSA really needs to do some soul searching if they want to be around for another 20 or 30 years. It's rally not looking good if I look at our area. The disrespect for my girls (don't they realize all the other activities that my girls can choose instead of Girl Scouts?) and for my volunteer time just astounds me.
