Answers Coming Up Roses for Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles

My area is merging soon and we’ll become the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles. When I found out that Girl Scout Courtney Chou Lee was selected as this year’s Rose Queen I wondered how that merger would affect future Gold Award recipients’ selection as banner carriers in the Rose Parade. I’ve heard back from the Miranda Spradlin, Public Relations Assistant for the Tournament of Roses, and from Mary Broomfield, Public Relations Director for the Mt. Wilson Vista Council which will be merging into the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles. The selection of banner carriers is limited to girls from that council currently. Mary believes that this honor will become available to all girls in the Greater Los Angeles Council. Miranda quoted the Tournament of Roses committee chair who said that they will have to make a determination on that, but it sounded like they were leaning toward allowing that decision to be up to the local GSUSA. It smells like a sweet future for the future council, by any name.
