Girl Scouts Auto Care Already Sped Past
Posted by admin under: Community Partners .
In the “that would have been cool if I’d known about it ahead of time” department, the Girl Scouts of the USA had an “on the road” contest that included a partnership with Bridgestone/Firestone Tires to get girls thinking about careers in the auto industry and to teach them skills regarding their future, or maybe current, cars. The Firestone Complete Auto Care Car Care Academy (that’s a mouthful) had a nationwide tour that just concluded that met with Girl Scouts in several states and talked to them and even included some tips on how to save gas.
My daughter’s troop is only just getting to the edge of the 14-17 year old age restriction on the contest that Girl Scouts had so I won’t feel too bad about it. Still, we just had a troop workshop on how to do basic maintenance on cars so this might have been cool to check out. I guess there were some people who were paying attention, though.
Ooh, neat. The Girl Scouts of the USA website for girls, Studio 2B, still has a nifty website related to the contest that lets you customize a cartoon car and do other games. It’s fun for a couple of seconds of entertainment.
After looking around it seems like this is the second year Girl Scouts of the USA has done this contest. The winner of the contest gets to take her family to a racing event. Last year it was the Nashville Super Speedway. This year it was the Indianapolis 500. I couldn’t see who won the contest, but it sure sounds like it was fun to me.
