The Somerset Reporter is reporting on a Girl Scout service project benefitting overseas military personnel.
On Sept. 27, over 600 Girl Scouts descended upon the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey’s North Branch Service Center to take part in Operation Shoebox New Jersey.
The girls, along with dedicated adult volunteers and council staff, packed 525 boxes which will be sent to service men and women fighting for freedom overseas with the intent of lifting their spirits.
The boxes contained toiletries, a box of Girl Scout cookies, a homemade hero card and letters from newly-appointed Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey Chief Executive Officer Susan Brooks and Operation Shoebox. Operation Shoebox New Jersey Hillsborough-based is a not-for-profit organization which holds events throughout Central Jersey.
