Jamboree Assistance
Posted by admin under: Community Partners; centennial .
Saw this in the Santa Cruz Sentinel when I was looking for Eagles to highlight this week. One of the young men is fulfilling his oath to promote Boy Scouts by giving assistance to someone who needs it for our centennial Jamboree.
Jakelund James Cannon, 19, son of JAMES CANNON, attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was honored in a ceremony Dec. 6 at the Chaminade Resort.

To further his efforts and interests in fostering creative leadership globally, Jakelund has started a nonprofit organization, the Jakelund Project, to explore and champion new concepts in learning and mentorship, while shaping our next generation of leaders.
His first project involves the search for a dedicated scout candidate from a family in need. The candidate selected will receive support in efforts to attend the Boy Scouts of America’s 100th Anniversary and Jamboree in Fort A.P. Hill, Va., July 26-Aug. 4, 2010.
The project will accept online submissions March 9-Nov. 1, 2009, with the awarded recipient announced on March 1, 2010. For more information about the project launch and eligibility, sponsorship or donations, e-mail Jakelund at info@thejakelundproject.org.
If you want to help an Eagle Scout help others then drop Jakelund a note. There may be many who apply and young Master Cannon might have uncorked a whirlwind. If you’re looking for a little help, keep an eye out for the announcement of his online submissions process. Good luck!
