Scout Scholarships
Posted by admin under: Community Partners .
In a publication coincidentally named the Eagle-Tribune in Maryland, you will learn that 5 Eagle Scouts have earned college scholarships totaling $44,000. One of the benefits of working for Eagle rank for years is the ability to access special scholarships operated for the benefit of Boy Scouts who attain that rank. In fact, Scouter.com has a long list of available scholarships including a link to the National Eagle Scout Association which has its own list. Another list is shown at: http://www.citilink.com/~blkeagle/finance/schoolme.htm#eagles.
Girl Scouts, too, have special scholarships available when they attain the highest award, the Gold Award. The Studio 2B site has a filter so you can find scholarships available for a specific state.
If you’re a Scout who is so busy getting credits for admission to a good college that you’ve let your program slip and might be thinking that it’s not all that important to get that last award since you’ve already accumulated so many, you might think again. Especially if your college fund is looking a bit low.

I’m wondering… Is it easier to get a scholarship with the Girl Scout Gold Award or one of the Awards from Venturing (for Girls who choose to join). Is it just a prestigious to get the Gold Venturing Award or the Ranger Award. Is it more impressive or less?
