Girl Scouts and Locks of Love
Posted by admin under: community service .
This is a community service I’ve seen a lot of Girl Scouts and even moms doing. Rebekah Rice is 10 years old and grew her hair out for 2 years in order to have it cut off and donated to a charity that makes wigs for children who have diseases that make them lose their hair, like cancer.
“Since my hair is a rare color, I thought I would do it for a girl who has cancer and wants her red hair back,” Rebekah said.
The charity exists just to help kids and that seems to reach a lot of Girl Scouts.
Mission Statement Our mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.
There are rules about what they will accept so if it sounds interesting to you, check them out at: http://www.locksoflove.org/
