No Signs They Were There
Posted by admin under: community service .
A Cub Scout Pack in New Jersey has a great idea for community service: Leave No Trace.
Cub Scouts from Pack 67 in Old Bridge will be fanning out all over the township on Nov. 9 to rid the highways and streets of leftover election campaign signs. “Take Down the Signs” is a community service project for the Cub Scouts, who will be cleaning up the neighborhoods of Madison Park, Central Park, Laurence Harbor, and Cliffwood Beach, and routes 9 and 34. For more information, call Cubmaster Brian Schaefer at 732-313-6384.
I’ve always been annoyed at those signs that end up sticking around at freeway off-ramps and various medians that somebody was so excited to put up, but then never take down. They end up getting dirty and blowing down the street eventually. Good call for the Cub Scouts to clean up their community. Plus, some of them might be collector’s items someday. Who knew that guy running for congress all those decades ago would be at the top of his party’s ticket today?

I hope they have checked with the local campaigns and their local ordinances. In most places around here those signs are property of the campaign and can not be removed by a 3rd party “legally”.

Hm. I didn’t know that. Now I hope they don’t get in trouble. Well, their hearts are in the right place. I just hope they don’t get fined because of it.
