BSA Licensing News

Just got an e-mail from BSA Licensing talking about some of the new things that are coming out and one award that I’d not heard of before. Apparently, BSA gives quality awards to their licensees that do a really good job. Of course, it’s May and they’re giving out the 2008 awards just now so I guess you shouldn’t hold your breath to find out whether or not you win for the year if it’s going to take them 4 months to let you know.
The Boy Scouts of America recently awarded its 2008 Quality Licensee Awards to A-B Emblem of Asheville, NC, Classb.com of Zephyrhills, FL, and DK Publishing of New York, NY. Both DK and Classb.com were awarded for the second year in a row. These three companies earned this distinguished honor by meeting or exceeding set guidelines for BSA licensees.
It seems like the President must be having an effect on the purchasing decisions of the BSA or it’s just a coincidence that they’ve got a book coming out about doing good deeds entitled “Yes YOU Can”. It’s a collections of ideas for good deeds that people can do.
They also announced that Victorinox, the Swiss army knife company, will now be an official licensee of the Boy Scouts of America.
Victorinox Swiss Army, of Monroe, Connecticut, is the US distributor for Victorinox, a leading producer for pocket tools, and is world renowned as a symbol of quality, functionality and Swiss inventive talent.
That sounds to me like they’ll be making tools in addition to specialty knives.
Also, I could have sworn I blogged on this before, but I can’t find a mention in my own notes, but I had contacted Mountain Jim when I saw them as a new licensee for the BSA to ask if they’d be supplying ice cream to camps or in the stores like the Girl Scouts do. Well, according to the latest license info Mountain Jim is selling Back Country Cobbler ice cream at retailers around the country and would like you to ask your grocer for some if they aren’t already carrying it. I think they’d do a better job getting people interested in their products if their home page actually carried news that was more recent than 11 months ago, but that’s just me.
Now you’re up to date on all the interesting stuff regarding the Boy Scouts’ licensees. You’ll notice a website link off to the right as well as the twitter feed for them if you’d like the latest and greatest at all times.
