Gear Guy and Cheap Stuff
Posted by admin under: Equipment .
I was perusing the Boys’ Life magazine website and decided to check out the resident gear guru’s blog. One article was the perennial refrain, “Camping stuff is expensive! Where can I get cheaper stuff?“. The reply was actually pretty good and turned me onto a weird site called http://www.steepandcheap.com/. This site sells only one item at a time. The discounts seem pretty good, too. I use the online aggregator bloglines to monitor a bunch of different websites at a time so I know when they’ve added new things. The nifty thing, too, is that when you start monitoring a site they give you the last 10 updates to that site so I got to look back in time to see what steepandcheap had been selling. While I wasn’t interested in the kiteboarding sail for over $400 (yikes!) or the wool boxer shorts I did see a high-tech jacket that sells on the REI website for $259 selling at steepandcheap for only $97. I’m a throw-on-layers-until-you’re-warm kind of camper, but I’m going to be monitoring this website for deals until something comes along that I am interested in. Too bad our surfing Scoutmaster didn’t see the watch that holds 10 years of tide history for 145 beaches all over the world. Well, maybe his wife is happier that he didn’t.

I’m fairly certain this is a spam comment, but the site it links to is fine so I approved it. The theme used is listed at the bottom of the page ” Autumn Concept 1.0 “.
