Gear Junkie Field Testing
Posted by admin under: Equipment .
Gear Junkie has announced a gear testing page which already has many good reviews on it by professionals.
These reviews are their opinions after a month or more of use, just the facts and feedback from real-world testers around the globe. Click here to see the first batch of reviews, including a sleeping bag roundup, the review of a new tent, and a taste test of sardines marketed toward backpackers and outdoorsy types. . .
The sardine one is funny, but the others are more practical, like the Jetboil review.
Pros: Push-button igniter; Spring-loaded pot handles; Capable of simmering soup or stew
Cons: Fuel control valve harder to access than other stoves; Doesn’t boil significantly faster than my test stove
MSRP: $120
I’m also new to this whole iPhone app business. I guess the iPhone can be used as a platform for applications that people are developing. There’s a review of an app for turning an iPhone into a GPS skiing assistant. Cool.
Next year about 150 U.S. ski resorts will be included in the Navionics app as well as snowmobile and ATV routes, according to the company.
Come the first quarter of 2009, U.S. iPhone users can download the app from the iTunes store and start using it to explore.
This new gear junkie page is another great resource.
