Liquid Cut Care and Duct Tape?
Posted by admin under: Equipment .
Lightbackpacking.com has an article on New Skin, which is a brush-on adhesive for cuts, kind of like super-glue so that the cut stays closed and covered with the adhesive to keep out dirt. It also has an antiseptic that apparently burns like crazy when you put it on. Since I’m always losing my band-aids or they get used up and I forget to replace them I might look into these.
Wikipedia has a round-up of different types of liquid bandages. 3M has Nexcare drops and a spray. Hospitals use Dermabond, but it costs almost $50. Band-Aid brand has its own Single Step liquid bandages. Most of the online stores sell the liquid bandages anywhere from $5 to $15. Superglue is the old stand-by for liquid bandages, but it’s messy and according to somebody on Wikipedia it may produce harmful chemicals in your body.
Since lightbackpacking.com noted that duct tape was the bandage of choice I did a search and believe it or not 3M, who makes duct tape, also has duct tape for cuts.
I had to laugh. Most of this stuff should be available at a drug store, but there are a lot of people willing to sell it online, too.

Thanks, Chris. Hey, you’re my first non-spousal comment. It’s a red-letter day! I just don’t know how to html the color red. Oh, well.
