Polartec Explained
Posted by admin under: Equipment .
Gear Junkie has the info for the back jacket of the Polartec book. I’ve heard of all kinds of jackets and stuff made with Polartec, but I’ve never remotely considered buying it because it is always so expensive. Well, if you drive a Maserati or outdoor gear is tops on your priority list you can go over to Gear Junkie’s review of some Polartec products.
Based in Lawrence, Mass., Polartec LLC is often associated solely with “polar fleece,” its ubiquitous synthetic wool product that’s used on everything from hats to long johns. But the company (www.polartec.com) is a large textile supplier that offers outerwear manufacturers hundreds of fabric types designed to keep active people comfortable in the outdoors.
Then he talks about 3 jackets made with Polartec and their prices which are at least $200 more than I’m spending. I’m a SoCal boy, though, so I don’t have to worry about the sub-zero temps much of the rest of the country or the crazy snowboarders do. If you want to know about Polartec, check him out.

I do live in the North County (got a blizzard on right now in fact) and I LOVE polartec fleece, tho their Cabela’s products are more at my price point. When you’re outside–be it Okpik in Minnesota or climbing a 14′er in Colorado, there’s no way not to be miserable if you’re not warm and dry.
