Yay! Cheap Gear!
Posted by admin under: Equipment .
I’m all about looking for less expensive ways to outfit myself and my Scouts. BoyScoutTrail’s Scoutmaster Musings gives the tip about where you can go for cheap gear.
Last year, I wrote about our Alps Mountaineering tents we purchased online from ScoutDirect.com and how we’ve been awful pleased with them.
…
Unfortunately, the ScoutDirect sale tents practically evaporated as soon as word got out - sorry. But, it looks like there’s some nice sleeping bags and backpacks for scouts needing a Christmas present.
Scout On
Hm. One of the sleeping bags looks pretty good. The price is cut from $80 down to $30. I like the sound of that. Can’t tell what the temp rating is, probably 20 degrees. Looks like it’s a 3 pounder. Not too shabby.
What’s an Osage 2 FG? Oh, it’s a two-man tent. It’s $19 for a tent that normally retails for $79? If I could only talk my Girl Scouts into small tents instead of these hotels they prefer. Oh, well. Girls are different. So, this holiday sale ends on December 19th, but they have refurbished equipment at good prices, too. Sounds like this site is going on my bookmark list.

Funny! The sleeping bags made it to my Weekend Patrol Box, ready to go out on Friday. They are a mistake though–in a good way! They are really 0 (zero) degree bags, marked as 20 degree bags.
