Lousiana Girl Scouts Are Gonna Party
Posted by admin under: Girl Scout Reorganization .
According to [Yvette] Hairston, this free event is the newly merged council’s way of celebrating the realignment of the Girl Scout Council of Southeast Louisiana and Girl Scouts-Audubon Council into one high capacity council, and showcasing many of the different activities Girl Scout troops may take action on during the next year.
Just a few of the activities at the Extravaganza will include a fashion show, science experiments, underwater and space games, environmental education, fitness fun, photos with the New Orleans Hornets Honeybees, and other presentations from more than 20 collaborative organizations from across the council’s 23-parish jurisdiction. Concession stands will be open.
Girl Scouts are also encouraged to participate in the Second Harvest Food Bank’s Scare Away Hunger food drive by bringing non-perishable food items to the event.
The event is free and Girl Scouts may come as a troop or with their families. Girls who are interested in Scouting also are welcome. Registration is encouraged and may be done by going online to www.gsle.org and completing a program event registration form.
For information about Girl Scouting, call either the Council office in New Orleans at 504.733.8220 or in Baton Rouge at 225.927.8946, or visit its Web site at www.gsle.org.
