Delegations from three New Jersey Girl Scout councils convened on Sept. 6 at the Union County Performing Arts Center, approving a merger to form Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey. The new council, which will enthusiastically deliver the optimal Girl Scout experience to over 28,000 girls and 11,000 adults in a jurisdiction covering seven New Jersey counties, will commence operations on Oct. 1.
The meeting concluded an 18-month process which saw staff, operational volunteers, governance volunteers and others work together to carefully construct an effective and efficient high-capacity council as part of Girl Scouts of the USA’s national realignment movement.
Congratulations to the new Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey Council and good luck to their CEO Susan Brooks.
