Sheboygan Wins, Merger Delayed
Posted by admin under: Girl Scout Reorganization .
The Girl Scouts of Manitou Council, the only council in the country to legally challenge an order from the Girl Scouts’ national body to merge with other councils, will be able to continue doing business as usual under a court ruling issued by a federal appeals court.
…
Attorneys for the Manitou Council had sought a preliminary injunction to block the council from having to make any changes until the case is resolved. U.S. District Judge J.P. Stadtmueller denied the request, so the plaintiffs appealed.
On Thursday, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed Stadtmueller’s decision, which means the council can continue operating as is until its lawsuit is decided.
…
“We are extremely happy and gratified,” said Manitou Council CEO Denise Schemenauer, who said the council will continue to register girls in the area for membership.
