Astro’s Matsui Welcomes Japanese Scouts in USA
Posted by admin under: International .
Houston hosts the Major League Baseball team the Astros who have a second baseman from Japan, Kazuo Matsui. Houston is also home to troops of Boy Scouts who welcomed boys and leaders from Chiba, Japan in a Scout exchange. All of them came together in a mixed troop meet and greet the day before a baseball game they all enjoyed. Well, maybe not Matsui since the Cubs beat the Astros 9-0, but I’m sure the Scouts still enjoyed the excitement of the game.
Kazuo Matsui got a visit from some of his countrymen — or boys — on Sunday when seven Japanese Boy Scouts and two scout leaders attended a pregame meet-and-greet with the Astros second baseman.
The scouts, as part of the Houston-Chiba Scout Exchange Program, visited Minute Maid Park as part of a 10-day event that has existed between Houston and Chiba City, Japan, for the past 36 years.
The Houston Boy Scouts have a web page chronicling the trip which wrapped up today. They have links to what seems like hundreds of pictures. They look really good and you can see the Japanese uniforms in action. I love these exchanges. Who’s up for a trip to Chiba?
