Preview the Victory Base Council Newsletter
Posted by admin under: International .
I hadn’t seen an update over at the Iraq Boy Scouts website for Victory Base Council for awhile so I sent over a note asking if things hadn’t died down. Lieutenant Commander Eric Fretz, the energy behind the original volunteers’ organization, says that our soldiers overseas are still volunteering to help the kids and their parents keep the Boy Scouts in Iraq going strong. He also sent a copy of the latest newsletter that hasn’t even been posted to the council website yet.
Apparently, the troop meetings are on Saturdays and the kids have been learning taekwondo and making volcanos. Cool! Click on this link to pull up the PDF of the July 18th Victory Base council newsletter (or right-click to save it).
It’s really great to see so much volunteer work by our service personnel. As the website reminds us, these guys and gals are helping the kids on top of their full schedules as members of the armed forces deployed in Iraq. The newsletter also says that the kids are looking forward to a fishing trip and community clean-up. Have fun and make the world a better place!
