Teddy Sends Namesake to Baghdad
Posted by admin under: International .
Well, his name is actually Ted Marris according to Meghan Kulig at WEAU news, but he is definitely sending Teddy to Iraq. In an effort to comfort the citizens of Iraq, a Boy Scout from Colfax, Wisconsin is collecting and shipping teddy bears.
“We went around, asked for teddy bears from different schools,” Marris said. “In Colfax, we got their student council involved. From Glenwood, the football team helped.”
Gridiron rivals – both working toward a common goal.
“We initially talked about it as a team and just talked about the importance of the project and how important it is to help people,” said Glenwood City’s Football Coach, Chase Rasmussen. “We have nearly 800 bears.”
“I think it’s pretty cool to be helping out,” added player, Nick Schouten.
In just a few days, the teddy bears will start their trip overseas. They’ll stop out on Thursday — and in about 6 to 8 days, they’ll be in Baghdad.
“He’s been doing such a great job,” said Sarge Grantham, the 8th District Commander of AMVETS. “Helping the veterans overseas and also the children over there. I think he’s doing a fantastic job.”
Spreading smiles – one bear at a time.
Isn’t that great? Fuzzies for friendship. I like it.
