It is unlike any other merit badge. It requires the BSA Executive Board to select a Blue Ribbon panel, comprosed of present day distinguished Americans, that will prepare a Reading List of American Patriots. Candidates for the PATRIOTISM merit badge will be required to read at least four books on the Reading LIst and,as a final requirement, to conduct research and prepare an essay on an American Patriot of his choice. The usual examination and award ceremont will follow. The suggested logo for the sash will be a replica of rthe American flag. It makes Sea Base 100% more fun, and you don't have to live near the ocean. We're in Ohio, and go at least twice a year. We just attempted a world record dive.....Caving and Spelunking's cool too, but I for one am Excited for the new Merit Badge.... Interesting. And BSA approves Scubing - a MB only a fraction of scouts will be able to earn.
