Scottish Scout Hiking Accident
Posted by admin under: Outings .
A 19-year-old accomplished scout died after falling 50 feet from Arthur’s Seat, an 823-foot volcano in Edinburgh, UK.
Mark Muir, who was also an experienced climber who has climbed the equivalent of 60,000 feet, somehow lost his footing and fell. He left the trailhead with a group of friends, but hiked back alone ‘cause he needed to get back sooner.
It’s always the adults who forget the basics, it seems. Using the buddy system is the smart move. It may not have saved this gentleman, but if help could have arrived sooner who knows if the ending might have been different.
