American Legion Hands Money to Scouts

And they’ll be doing it again. The Pasadena Star-News wants to remind everyone about the scholarship opportunities available to Gold Award recipients and Eagle Scouts.
Auxiliary seeking nominations for “Girl Scout of the Year”
The American Legion’s women’s auxiliary is seeking applicants for the annual “Girl Scout of the Year” awards, which gives a $1,000 scholarship to the winner, along with a trip to auxiliary national convention next August.
Applicants must have received the Gold Award, be active members of a religious institution and have received the appropriate emblem. Applicants must also have completed the ninth-grade. The deadline to apply is Feb. 11, 2009. Application forms can be downloaded at http://www.legion-aux.org/scholarships/index.aspx
Top Eagle Scouts encouraged to apply for 4 scholarships
The American Legion is seeking applicants for the annual “Eagle Scout of the Year” awards. The top winner receives a $10,000 scholarship. Three second-place of $2,500 will be awarded.
Applicants must be at least 15 years old and have achieved Eagle Scout rank and be active in a religious institution. Application forms can be downloaded at http://www.legion.org/programs/resources/scholarships
