Be Distinct Next Year for Your Gold Award in This One
Posted by admin under: recognition .
The Studio 2B website is advertising for the 2009 Young Women of Distinction event to be held in 2010. That sounds awkward. Anyway, the application process is open to any Gold Award recipient who earned her recognition any time last year up through the end of this month. Sure, you say, but why would I be so immodest as to say what a great Girl Scout I am? Isn’t the fact that I built underwater igloos for baby seals enough of a reward? Well, read this.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to any Girl Scout who received her Girl Scout Gold Award between January 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009. There is no limit on the number of applications a council or overseas committee can submit. Councils must complete the verification form attached to the application.
Why should you apply?
Girl Scouts who receive the YWOD honor receive many benefits including a college scholarship, an invitation to a Girl Scout national meeting where the YWOD are honored, the opportunity to join the National Girl Consultants (NGC), and the opportunity to join the National Young Women of Distinction Alumnae Association.
Deadlines
Applications must be postmarked by September 4, 2009 and received by GSUSA no later than September 10, 2009.
Please see the fact sheet and application form (Word).
Any questions or concerns about the National Young Women of Distinction event please email ywod@girlscouts.org.
I’ve attached a PDF copy of the letter and application available right now if you click here. Give your recession-stricken parents a break and apply at least for the scholarship and good luck!
