My Son’s Eagle Scout Certificate
Posted by admin under: recognition .
Seems like there were some questions about how the Eagle Scout certificates look now and whether or not the honorary President of the Boy Scouts of America has a signature on it. Not on my son’s. Didn’t think it was important since both President and First Lady Obama sent the note I previously referred to. Just thought I’d show what the current certificates look like.
There is no place for the signature of the President of the United States of America. So, I don’t know what that means, but the BSA is sending these out without a spot for it. I guess they’ve made the call.
Update: According to the PR office in the comments for this post they made the call to get the President’s signature on the certificates. My son received a transitional certificate while they were getting the current ones set up. The President’s signature now appears on Eagle Scout certificates.

The certificate identified above is the transitional certificate. As with any change in the administration at the White House, there is lag time between when the new president takes office and the processing and licensing of his electronic signature for our documents. All Eagle documents now have President Obama’s signature.

My grandson has a certificate issued which will be presented to him June 5….no Presidential signature on it…has it always taken Presidential signatures this long to be applied, or is this a special situation….6 months into the year does not bode well for thinking the now President cares much about the Eagle Scouts of 2010.

Who cares if there isnt a place for obomas signature. This is a person who dont even salute the flag or place his hand over his heart so why have it on them.

My son, Brian, is now an Eagle Scout. His Board of Review was in the spring of this year, and we have scheduled his Eagle Court of Honor for August 29, 2010. I confess, that I am late getting started on requesting congratulatory letters for him, etc. (I naively thought that the troop or the council took care of these things)
For some reason, it is very important to my son to have a certificate or letter that is signed by the current president. I had originally intended to send a request without the Court of Honor date, but now realize that I must include it. My concern is that because the date of my son’s Court of Honor is so close, his request for a certificate will be ignored.
Would I be better off to include a fictitious date (some time in November, for instance) for this request?

Just as a follow-up to my previous query — is it still possible to get a certificate signed by President George W. Bush?

Is this the official BSA Eagle Certificate? Or is this something extra requested from the White House?

Why should it take 1 1/2 years to make a transition to sign your name to a certificate for Eagle Scouts? I think he originally refusd to sign the certificates, and later changed his mind because of the flak he received from 10,000 Eagle Scouts. Just like the lapel flag pin.
