Arizona
Sunday after church, 17-year-old Michael Donahue of Troop 1 in Bisbee unveiled his Eagle Scout project that took nearly two years to complete. It was the original Scout sign for Troop 401 that used to reside at the former clubhouse of the scouts. Donahue had to raise $400 to pay for the project, which included a new rock base, wood repair and repainting of the sign.

Matthew James Dye has been awarded the highest award in Boy Scouts – the rank of Eagle Scout. For his Eagle project, he decided to restore the Ontario Peak Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains. He led a team of 12 volunteers in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service in working more than 450 hours planning and executing the removal of about 40 fallen trees from the trail.

Dale Exline Parker was earned the rank of Eagle Scout while a member of Boy Scout Troop 607. For his Eagle Scout community service project, Dale oversaw 150 hours of gardening and walkway care at the rose garden in Upland’s Memorial Park.

James Robert Garrison of Dunedin was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Dec. 20. Scoutmasters Ken Madley and Gary Johnson officiated.

Gregory B. Evans of Aiea was promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout by the Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America in November.

Michael W. Kistner, age 16, received Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Kistner created an informational sign for Edgewood United Methodist church and preschool to allow the church to convey information to those passing by.

Jacob Riddle, a 17 year old Howe Military Academy junior, receiving Eagle Court of Honor this summer is a goal and dream he had set for himself since being in scouts. Jacob planned, organized and implemented raising money and gathering supplies for 50 care packages that were sent overseas to our troops. Jacob received several letters back from the troops following the receiving of his care packages, including pictures from some of the troops.

Hank Binzer of Myersville has been a scout since he joined Tiger Scouts in the first grade. January marked the culmination of his scouting career, as Hank officially attained Eagle, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. For his Eagle service project, which he completed early last summer, Hank, 17, installed four exercise stations along a one-mile loop in Wiles Branch Park in Middletown.

Austin St. George, 17, of Farmington Hills, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Jan. 19. He is the 100th Scout in Troop 263 to achieve the award since the troop was formed in 1961. For his Eagle project, he chose to help St. Christine’s Food Pantry in Detroit with a food drive, where over 1,000 cans of food were collected. He also helped make renovations in their business office.

Jeffrey La Manna, a resident of Landing, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts, after completing his service project. For his Eagle project, LaManna consulted with Principal Jack Curtis of the Lincoln-Roosevelt School to install a split rail cedar fence on both sides of the main entrance doors and re-landscape the surrounding area.

Charlie Middlebrooks’ Eagle project was a natural area with benches, tables and hammocks at the United Methodist Agency for the Retarded in Charlotte. Abbott Trotter built an outdoor classroom at Collinswood Elementary. Kevin Lang put together a series of science kits for fifth-grade teachers; brother Alex built three gardens at Sharon Elementary. “We all helped each other,” said Clark O’Bannon, who comes from a family of nine Eagles, including his father Tom, brother Brian, two uncles and four cousins.

Dominick Michael DeChristofaro was awarded Eagle Scout, the highest ranking achievement in the Boy Scouts of America. DeChristofaro’s project was the installation of a flag pole at the Christian Academy of the Cumberlands, complete with landscaping and flowers. As a dedication of his project, a stone memorial was placed at the site in honor of his late grandmother, Wanda Barnhart.

Luke Shrader, of Boy Scout Troop 1422, has earned the Eagle Scout rank. For his Eagle project, he chose to help St. Christine’s Food Pantry in Detroit with a food drive, where over 1,000 cans of food were collected. He also helped make renovations in their business office. Luke’s Eagle project was to dig out an area around the flagpole at the American Legion Post 320. He added concrete and a dedication plaque.
