Troop 300 will honor David Jones, Jonathon Hubble and Morgan Wenter who each put in about 12 years of service to earn their Eagle Scout.

Joe Christian, 14, a student at Newbury Park High School, will soon be honored at Bethany Baptist Church for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. For his project, Joe helped renovate the baseball fields at Sequoia Middle School.

In a recent Court of Honor, Kyle Adams, son of Mark and Darla Adams of Hesperia, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout – the highest advancement rank in Scouting. Kyle acquired funds for his Eagle Project by recycling used aluminum window frames. He then purchased fabric in the L.A. Garment District and supervised a group of about 25 people who cut and tied the fabric into 60 blankets. The blankets were given to the fire department to be given to fire victims who have lost everything.

Kevin Michael Griffith has earned the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 236. For his Eagle project, Kevin organized donations, coordinated volunteers and led a project to build two benches at Greenbrook Elementary School in Danville.

A new garden structure was in place at Hanna Ranch Elementary School in Hercules when students started class this fall, the work of Hercules High student Augustine “Augie” Vogele. The 414-square-foot installation, a popular addition at the school, was completed in August as the Eagle project of Vogele, a Scout in Troop 76 in Hercules and Rodeo.

Bryan Huebner, a freshman at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, became an Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in scouting, two years ago. Basic training at the academy wasn’t all that challenging because of the skills he picked up in Troop 28, he said.

Basehor resident Alec R. Smith, 14, received his Eagle Scout Award on Nov. 2 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church. He earned 37 merit badges as a Boy Scout, and he organized and manned the construction of an 1880s-style storefront display at the Basehor Historical Museum.

The Boy Scouts of America Eagle Court of Honor for Alex Perovich, son of Ron and Trina Perovich, was Nov. 9 at the Church of the Magdalen. His Eagle project involved soliciting, collecting, sorting and distributing personal care items to patrons of the diner.
The Eagle Scout rank also has been awarded to Bishop Carroll High School students Daniel Bevilacqua, son of Jim and Rhonda Bevilacqua, and Matt DeRee, son of Cyndi and Frank DeRee; and Derby High School student Dave Whalen, son of Marcy and Jeff Whalen.

Paul Pisani of Boy Scouts Troop 218, sponsored by the Church of the Ascension in Overland Park, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Paul’s service project involved directing a team of scouts in the design, construction and installation of storage shelves for Wayside Waifs. These shelves allowed for the storage of food and tools while keeping the area safe for animals.

Local Boy Scout Edward Hanson of Eliot, Maine, has been named an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting. Speakers at the ceremony were state Reps. Sarah Lewin of Eliot and Bonnie Gould of South Berwick, who presented Hanson with a sentiment from the Maine Legislature. or his Eagle project, Hanson led a small group of Boy Scouts in cleaning and recording the information from the headstones at the Furbish Cemetery on Dover Road in Eliot. In addition, he led a group of Eliot Historical Society members in the cleanup, recording and the replacement of Old Hammond Cemetery in downtown Eliot.

Nolan Mickey, a Boy Scout from Troop 88 in Princeton, recently completed his Eagle Scout community service project to achieve the rank of Eagle. The project benefited Princeton Young Achievers (PYA), a local nonprofit community organization whose mission is to provide constructive after-school activities for under-resourced elementary school children. The assistance offered by PYA includes homework support, one-on-one tu toring, literacy support, development of reading skills and parent programs at three Learning Centers in the Princeton area. The project involved cosmetic improvements at the PYA main office located in the Princeton School Board Administration Building. The work included painting of old wooden paneling and trim, installing and finishing a bookcase to showcase PYA literature, putting up new curtains, and installing a white board to be used for educational purposes.

Ben Arab has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting. For his Eagle project, Arab constructed a scoreboard for the playing field of Chapel Hill Bible Church and an outdoor recycling center near the church parking lot.

More high fives to John Stevens, son of Janet and David Stevens of Bellbrook, who not only was named a National Merit Semifinalist recently, but who received the rank of Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 75 last Sunday. You can check out his Eagle project: he organized and lead the building of a split-rail fence around Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Community Center parking lot, which took 26 volunteers and 175 hours.

Rodney Wayne Hildebrand, 18, of Hillsboro, has earned the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America – Eagle Scout – through Troop 855 in Hillsboro. Hildebrand’s Eagle project was trail cleanup and invasive plant species removal at a wildlife preserve near Century High School.

An Eagle Court of Honor will be held on Sunday for David Kenyon, son of Tim and Mary Kenyon of Madison. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony, which will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. Kenyon has exceeded the merit badge requirements for earning the Eagle Scout rank, completing his Eagle Scout project earlier this summer. That project involved building seven bat houses for the city of Madison which will be placed in the Gerry Maloney Nature Preserve in 2009. The bat houses were built by Kenyon and three other scouts with assistance from Ted LaFleur, city horticulture and turf specialist, who obtained the materials. Kenyon said they deviated from the original plans by using galvanized deck screws to prevent rusting and by creating baffles that were equidistant from one another.

Eric Thomas Wheeler will be recognized at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at 6 p.m. Thursday at the San Angelo Nature Center, 7409 Knickerbocker Road. His Eagle service project was to build a python cage for “Baby” at the San Angelo Nature Center.

Samuel Crume, 17, and volunteers cleared an overgrown field behind Grace Presbyterian Village retirement home in Dallas and built four picnic tables for use in the new recreational space.
Neal Guthrie, 18, designed and built craft and planting tables for the Alzheimer’s unit at Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas.
Ryan Mastellar, 18, planned, coordinated and led renovations of the St. Vincent de Paul facility at the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Carrollton, which included cleaning, painting floors, building shelves and organizing items.
Connor Waggoner, 15, created an outdoor rest and relaxation area for families who bring their children to the Children’s Medical Center Ambulatory Care Pavilion.

Lake Stevens Scout Beau Maben, who is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 41, recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout project, Maben researched, constructed and installed an experimental roosting box for Vaux’s swifts, a small, dark gray-brown migrating bird of the Pacific Northwest similar to the chimney swift. Thousands of the birds had been using an old brick chimney on the top of Wagner Elementary School in Monroe. When the Pilchuck Audubon Society found out the school district might be forced to remove the chimney, they began looking for alternative roosting solutions for the birds. Maben went to work on the roosting project in March. He spent 90 hours on the project and installed a 13-foot tower on the roof of the school.

Daniel J. Grossheim has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in Boy Scouts. For his Eagle project, Grossheim organized and supervised the building of an outdoor play structure for Bridgeway at Trisha’s House. Approximately 249 hours were spent on planning and completion of the project.
