UK Explorers Find Injured Woman
Posted by admin under: recognition .
HikerHell has a story today about British Explorer Scouts who were having a jolly old time descending a mountain until they were flagged down by a husband who said his wife had been injured while climbing.
They used their radios to tell a waiting bus driver to call authorities and the scouts went into action and used their first-aid training to construct a stretcher to haul the woman down. Weather at the time was below zero with blowing wind and clouds.
Luckily one of the scout leaders is a former RAF mountain rescue leader who helped the scouts secure the woman’s leg, construct the stretcher and carry the woman down to a waiting ambulance at the trailhead.
In the linked story I like what one of the guys said.
Harry said: “It was my first rescue and my good turn for the day. I felt proud to have played a part in her safe return.”
If that’s the standard for his daily good turn he must be really busy. Good job for the bully Brits!
