No Chump Change for Chico Chick

Holy cow. First of all, what kind of person do you have to be to steal from kids, especially kids in a volunteer organization that does good service for the community? Secondly, how could you look at them day after day knowing that you’re stealing from them? I just don’t know. A Chico woman was able to do it, though, allegedly.
The Chico Police Department arrested the treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 3 this morning for allegedly embezzling nearly $30,000 from the group. Chico Police officers began investigating 51-year-old Lisa Elaine Beale of Chico after being contacted by the troop’s board members in October, according to a police press release. Beale had been the troop’s treasurer since 2000.
After reviewing the troop’s financial records and accounts, officers determined that Beale had allegedly embezzled $29,735 from January 2005 through August 2008.
This morning, Beale was arrested. She later posted bail and was released on bond.
