Open Source Initiative for Scouting
Posted by admin under: Software .
Again from http://www.boyscouttrail.com/scoutmastermusings.asp is another interesting, if confusing, story. This is about how Boy Scouts of America is encouraging the development of a website and programs that are free, available, and modifiable by the Scouting community. I went to the website http://opensource.scouting.org/, but I got confused because I couldn’t figure out what I might find there and it looks like no one has modified anything since May. boyscouttrail.com said it would track the project and report new developments. Good, because I’m already lost so I don’t think I’ll be returning. However, if you’re a software developer and you’re looking to put your skills to a good use that could benefit all scouts nationally, have at ‘er.
