I Hate These Guys
Posted by admin under: Training; safety .
A former Boy Scout leader accused of molesting one of his Scouts multiple times pled guilty in court Tuesday morning in Kershaw County.
Investigators say 49-year-old Russell Spitzer had admitted to having physical contact with the boy. It began in October, 2006.
The boy was 13 years old at the time, and authorities say the boy’s father was stationed in Afghanistan.
If I need to say it until I’m blue in the face then I’ll do it. Take the youth protection training onlinefrom Boy Scouts of America. It tells you exactly what the protections are that all adults and boys in the troop need to enforce. The primary one: there is never any one-on-one time between adults and scouts. The helpful parent doesn’t give your kid a ride. You don’t leave your son at the meeting with a leader until you get back late from wherever you were. If you are a leader and you don’t want an untrue lawsuit or accusation placed on you it is even more important that you enforce these rules. Although I hate these guys and these stories I am grateful to WISTV.com for letting us know another dirtbag is in the slammer.
P.S.: Really? A military man’s son? If I was Russell I’d be very, very scared.
Update: He can hide in prison. The judge sentenced him to 25 years.
A judge sentenced a former Boy Scout leader to 25 years in prison for molesting a boy in his troop while the boy’s father was deployed in Afghanistan.
