Your Training Reminder
Posted by admin under: Training .
http://boyscouttrail.com posted a reminder a few weeks ago about the online training available for Boy Scouts and I’d like to piggy-back on that sentiment.
You’re not sure if you’re trained or you know your swimming and boating training has lapsed or the recent tornado in Idaho got you thinking about the new Hazardous Weather training that BSA is requiring for outings. Maybe you’re part of a new Venturing Crew or you’re not sure what the leaders in Boy Scouts are supposed to know. All of the training for these things is available at the Boy Scout’s Online Learning Center at http://olc.scouting.org/.
You click on what you want to learn and the system directs you to a login page. If you’ve never done the e-learning then you’ll need to create a login. Part of the login creation asks you for your Boy Scout Member ID from your card. Don’t worry. It’s not required. You can create a new login and do the training without it. If you have one, it’s a good way for the training to be tracked for you and (someday) be sent to your council.
I encourage all involved parents and leaders to take these courses. Even all of the Boy Scouts should take these courses so they know what is expected of them and what their leaders are asking for. There is a boy-specific course for those who are or might want to be Den Chiefs.
I especially encourage everyone to take the new hazardous weather training course since it will be required soon for all our outings.
