Cougar Flees Mom
Posted by admin under: Uncategorized .
I read HikerHell.blogspot.com all the time. He’s got a lot of interesting stories and can tell you exactly why someone got into a hiking predicament. In this case, it was just bad luck. The important thing to note is how this family got out of the situation.
A mother was out on a hike with her two sons in a popular hiking area. Her two boys walked in front of her. When the 7-year-old turned around to look at his mother, a cougar came out of the bush and pounced on the boy, knocking him to the ground.
The mother immediately jumped in to help. When the cougar saw the mother coming, the cougar ran off. The boy was left with scratches and bruises. He had to get stitches.
The park remains closed until the cougar is caught. Authorities are praising the mother for her quick action. Cougars are common in the hiking area, but attacks are extremely rare.
One of the things that everyone needs to remember in the unlikely event of a cat attack is to fight back. Bundling up in a ball and hiding doesn’t work. Apparently, cougars know what happens when you get between a mom and her kid. Good thing he got out of there in time or he would have been a tawny rug.
