GSUSA & BSA: Chili Challenge Scares Boys
Posted by admin under: Uncategorized .
This past weekend my daughter’s Girl Scout troop challenged my son’s Boy Scout troop to a chili cook-off. I tried to tell the girls to watch out because the boys do this sort of thing periodically within the troop and have been honing their skills. In fact, the BSA troop did an internal cook-off prior to the actual challenge. The girls hadn’t even selected recipes as late as two days prior to the challenge. It looked to be a blow-out. It was.
However, it wasn’t in the way that I’d been envisioning. Through a series of missed calls, unforwarded e-mail, and undelivered flyers, not a single Boy Scout besides my son even showed up to the challenge which they obviously lost in the most spectacular fashion imaginable. Not even my son participated, but that was because he was in an ROTC drill competition during the beginning of the day and never got a commitment from his patrol to participate.
I just told them they were scare of little girls since the average age of my daughter’s Cadette troop is younger than the boys in the BSA troop.
Too bad. The chili was good. The day was fun with games and rolling down the hill (I refrained from the last with good grace). The spicy chili with italian sausage won the trophy. Congratulations to the Nerds patrol!
