Ron Largent in Redding, California posts word that President Bush honored 3 Boy Scouts while touring the damage caused by the thousands of wildfires this summer. There is a press release on the Boy Scouts of America website describing what the young men did that caused them to be recognized. Primarily, it was helping to organize the biggest conservation program since World War II for the Boy Scouts of America and the U.S. Forest Service. One of my own troop’s Arrowmen, Grady, is at that event, ArrowCorps5 right now and then he’s going directly to a pre-summer camp program for leadership training so that he can lead the rest of our troop when we show up next week.
One of the guys, Mark Hendricks, already has a write-up in his local paper. We’ll have to see if Jake Wellman and Alex Braden are similarly noted in their home towns.
What a great honor to have your award presented by the President of the United States, the honorary head of the Boy Scouts of America.
