Spam, Eggs, Spam, Spam, Bacon, and Spam
Posted by admin under: Uncategorized .
Aw, I wanted to mark the exciting milestone of reaching 100 spam posts, but I got flooded over the weekend and now we’re off an running at 110 spam posts. I mean, isn’t that the mark of a really great website? The spam threshold? Well, anyway, you may see some questionable items, but you’ve missed out on all the really great stuff.
There seems to be a new method of spamming nowadays. The spammers don’t just say “Come to our site to learn about x, y, or z”. They quote your article as if they’re a genuine referral giving you credit for saying something witty or important. Feels good until you realize it’s just a robot trying to get you to go to their site so they can get credit for people seeing their advertisements. Ack.
I like the even more clever ones that respond to a post saying something like, “That’s interesting. I like your take on this subject. I look forward to reading more in the future”. Nothing offensive about that. Then you notice they’ve included their home page as part of their commenting and when you follow it back it’s just a big mess of ads with no point so it was just another fishing expedition for more visits to their site.
110 spam. No eggs, but I still feel cosmopolitan. The ones that got past me I’m leaving up as a reminder.
